My Philosophy of Law Practice

I have learned throughout my years of private practice as a real estate and business transactional lawyer that clients involved in legal transactions want three things:

• a good result
• for a reasonable fee
• in a timely manner

To me, a good result means negotiating and completing a real estate or business transaction in a way that creates a positive working relationship among the parties, and achieves a win-win outcome for both parties and avoids litigation. I help my clients work toward that result by using a practical and straightforward approach in negotiating a reasonable resolution that emphasizes:

• Imparting a clear understanding of business and real estate laws and practice
• Building friendly and harmonious relationships with clients, opposing parties and their counsel
• Determining what is and is not important to both my clients as well as to the other parties in the transaction
• Earning respect, trust and a sense of fairness
• Conducting negotiations in a manner that is generally pleasant for all participants
• Facilitating a positive relationship for future dealings between the parties, which is especially important when the parties must live together after the transaction is completed, such as in a business venture, a landlord/tenant relationship, or as neighbors

In my approach to my business practice, I always stress to my clients that hiring an experienced attorney when starting a business is a wise and essential investment so that things run smoothly and they don't lead to expensive litigation costs in the future. A small expense at the front end can save headaches and costs down the road. I bring a wealth of experience to the table, including my experience as a client and as President of a company with over 500 employees.

The foundation of my practice is built on the relationships I have established with my clients as well as opposing lawyers and their clients. I pay close attention to the needs of my clients and return their calls promptly.
